What is Megurin?

  • Megurin is a community bus operated by Taito Ward of Tokyo.
  • Megurin runs five routes in Taito Ward and partially in Bunkyo Ward of Tokyo.Megurin is operated all year round.
  • Megurin runs every 15 to 20 minutes.
  • You get on the bus from the front door; you get off the bus from the rear door.
  • You pay the bus fare in advance.
  • The bus fare is 100 Yen; no child or senior discount is available.
  • 1,000 Yen bill is accepted when you pay the bus fare for 100 Yen; 5,000 Yen or 10,000 yen bull are accepted.
  • You can use prepaid IC cards such as Suica and PASMO to pay the fare (100 Yen).
  • A one-day ticket is available for 300 Yen; you can take any routes of Megurin bus at any extra cost on a day.
  • You can purchase a one-day ticket on the bus, but you cannot use prepaid IC cards to buy one.
  • Some facilities of Taito Ward offer a discount on admission if you present your one-day ticket of Megurin.

What is Megurin South Route?

Megurin South Route has the following features:

  • Starting from Ueno Station, it runs counterclockwise in the south part of Taito Ward in 75 minutes.
  • The operating interval is about 15 minutes on weekdays and is about 18 minutes on weekends and holidays.
  • It operates from 7 AM to past 7 PM.

Transfering to Other Route of Megurin

At the following but stops, you can transfer from the South Route to other routes.

  • Taito Ward Office (#20): To the North-South Route Free Transfer
  • Matsugaya (#23): To the East-West Route Free Transfer
  • Shogaigakushu Center Kita (#25): To the North Negishi Route
  • Senzoku 2-Chome (#26): To the North Negishi Route
  • Senzoku 3-Chome (#27): To the North Negishi Route
  • Taito Hospital (#28): To the North Negishi Route and the North Asakusa Route Free Transfer
  • Taito Ward Office (#34): To the East-West Route Free Transfer

Bus stops with free transfer above are eligible for a free transfer. When boarding Megurin South Route, get a transfer ticket from the driver. This ticket is valid only on the issued day. You can transfer for free by giving it to the driver when you transfer to the other route of Megurin.

A Discount on Admission With Your One-Day-Ticket

Some facilities of Taito Ward will offer you a discount on admission if you present your one-day ticket of Megurin. But it’s valid only for one person per ticket, and on the day the ticket is issued.
